Real estate boundaries – Broad St. to the east, The Schuylkill River to the west, Market St. to the north, Locust St. to the south (21st St. to the River) and South St. to the south (20th St. to Broad St.)
Rittenhouse Square is another of the 5 original open-space parks planned by William Penn, and probably the most well-known park in the city. The square is always lively with a diverse group of people hanging out or passing through. Some of the city’s most expensive real estate lines the park and the multiple condo buildings all possess units with beautiful views overlooking the square and the Philadelphia skyline. The actual park’s boundaries are 18th St. to the east, Rittenhouse Square South to the west, Walnut St. to the north, and Rittenhouse Square West to the south. Many would argue that the Rittenhouse neighborhood is the most sought after address in Center City, and the price tags tend to support that. The section of Walnut St. that passes through the neighborhood has been characterized as the city’s premier shopping district as it is home to stores such as: Burberry, Armani Exchange, Tiffany & Co., Ralph Lauren, Swarovski, Juicy Couture, Lacoste, and The North Face…just to name a few. Populated with swanky high-rises, loads of shopping, and some of the city’s best restaurants, along with, the square itself and the neighborhood’s central location to the business district, Rittenhouse should always remain as one of the city’s leading neighborhoods.
